New Delhi, June 26 (IANS) How will Congress counter the BJP’s neo-Hindutva ideology? Vivek Tankha, a senior congressman and MP for Rajya Sabha, has the answer. He said that the time for Hindutva is over and now is the time to focus on the real issues that affect millions of people.
“The tide is turning now. We can see it in local elections in Madhya Pradesh. I come from the heart of Hindi. I can see it happening. No one in South India cares about BJP Hindutva issue does not affect Panchayat MP elections,” Tankha told IANS.
What is the Congress strategy to fight BJP Hindutva? Tankha said that “Congress will always raise issues that concern the nation. The BJP will raise its own issues, but in the end it is the people who have to decide what is in their best interests. The day the people will understand BJP’s divisive agenda, you will see its base of support dwindle dramatically.People will have to start coming back to the Congress fold.
“Ram Mandir and other issues raised by the BJP only impacted the core of Hindi. But now people’s inclination is turning to the real issues. recent protests against the government’s new program, Agnipath.”
When asked about the strategy for Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, Tankha said, “We cannot assess the situation in states like Madhya Pradesh etc. by sitting in Delhi. We have to go there and listen to people, only then we can be able to see the situation with our own eyes.People’s priorities change and it is not in favor of the BJP.
On the issue of the use of bulldozers, he said, “The Supreme Court has also raised questions about the use of bulldozers. The BJP adopts a strategy that may divide people, but when it knows that the public is against , he stops”.
On the Gyanvapi controversy, Tankha said “the issue is in court, it’s not a political party issue.”
