The Marcos camp confident that Comelec can counter attempts at electoral fraud

The camp of presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos is relying on the Electoral Commission (Comelec) to address issues of alleged voter fraud on election day.

This can be gleaned from the statement by Marcos’ spokesman, attorney Vic Rodriguez, on Monday afternoon, May 9, after the camp received reports of alleged voting irregularities in traditional betting strongholds. UniTeam in North Luzon.

“We take note of these complaints, but we are convinced that Comelec is ready for any eventuality, in particular against attempts by certain groups to reverse the true result of this very important and historic political exercise,” Rodriguez said.

Various complaints of irregularities mainly centered on faulty and non-functional vote counting machines in North Luzon reached the Marcos within hours of the opening of polling stations on Monday.

Some of the plaintiffs came from the towns of Narvacan, Sta. Cruz and Burgos in Ilocos Sur as well as Tabuk City, Kalinga.

“They all claimed they had voted for Marcos, but when they checked the results, their votes were credited instead. [Vice President] Leni Robredo,” the Marcos camp statement read.

The same camp advised its supporters to be extremely vigilant and to report to the relevant authorities anything that could negatively affect the election results.
