NEW DELHI: The BJP on Wednesday accused Rahul Gandhi of defaming the country’s image and sowing the seeds of hatred after a Congress politician attacked the ruling party for using bulldozers in disaster-stricken areas riots in Delhi and in states like Madhya Pradesh.
“That’s all you can expect from someone whose history is linked to corruption and riots,” Union I&B and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said in a jibe formed to Congress.
Thakur, who was speaking to reporters about the various activities undertaken by the BJP as part of the celebrations ahead of the 75th anniversary of independence, also targeted Rahul, saying, “He is not doing the country any good by sowing the seeds of hatred. . It defames the image of the country.
Gandhi had attacked the government for using bulldozers in violence-hit areas and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to turn off “hate bulldozers” and turn on power stations.
Thakur also criticized the AAP for accusing the ruling party of fomenting riots and saying its headquarters should be bulldozed. “It’s a party that goes so far as to compromise with terrorists for power,” he said. Politics is meant to change society with ideology and policies, but some people are determined to lower its standards, Thakur added.
Speaking on the ongoing “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, Thakur said that since the Prime Minister’s launch of the program in Sabarmati on March 12 last year, which coincided with Mahatma GandhiDuring the iconic Dandi march, more than 25,000 events took place across the country and also abroad until April 18 this year.
