From February 7, 2022, the New South Wales Government is offering free Responsible Alcohol Service (RSA) courses to 5,000 workers and job seekers to help reduce pressure on staff in approved places of reception.
Former hospitality workers are also encouraged to return to the sector – anyone whose RSA competency card has expired within the last two years or will expire before June 30 can take a free RSA course.
With NSW’s hospitality sector adding over 2% of total gross value to the state’s economy and creating over 300,000 jobs, support for the industry is currently significant.
NSW Treasurer Matt Kean said the RSA courses will enable more people to get the qualifications they need to enter the job market during this critical time, adding “by offering these free RSA courses we We’re not just supporting the hospitality sector during the current recession – we’re supporting the future of people who gain further qualification through funding from the NSW Government.
Courses can be taken by TAFE NSW and private providers who already offer government-subsidised programmes.
